The under 14s team from St Cecilia’s RC HIgh School, Longridge, have qualified for the regional finals of the national schools netball competition after finishing in the top two in the Lancashire county round at Stanley Park, Blackpool.
In the group stages they beat St Michael’s, Chorley, 10-3 Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar 10-0, Poulton’s Baines School 8-2, Archbishop Temple 11-2 and Clitheroe Grammar 7-2
They went on to beat Stonyhurst College 10-8 in a hard semi-final to qualify to represent Lancashire in the regional round of the national schools competition.
St Cecilia’s head of PE Miss Sarah Bethwaite said: “The sheer hard work and dedication of the team has taken us this far – and it will take us the rest of the way too.
“Being one of the smallest schools in Lancashire we have done exceptionally well to beat teams from much bigger schools.”
