Nine players from Garstang were in action at the National Schools Individual Competition at Blackburn, all hoping to be crowned champions of Lancashire and gain a place at the National Finals at Doncaster in April.

Luke McGrath made it through but only after a tough semi-final where he inflicted defeat on club mate Stuart Southward.

Owen Pye, Megan Dillon, Alice Dillon and Kelly Southward also all made it through, Owen Bendall lost out in the semi-final of his age group to Matt Howarth who then defeated another Garstang player Daniel Williams in the final.

In the Lancaster & Morecambe League Division 1, Garstang D are top of the table thanks firstly to a resounding 29-4 victory over Morecambe High School, Tommy Kennedy and Mike Charters were undefeated, Owen Bendall added two more wins and was unlucky not to add another losing out 3-2. The team then won a crucial match with top team Ripley Barbarians 25-10, Tommy Kennedy and Mike Charters were again undefeated, Owen Bendall added the final win. The victory sees the team 14 points clear at the top, however second place Barbarians have a game in hand.

Garstang C recorded a 25-15 win over St Lukes C, Joseph Peat was undefeated on the night, Thomas Gorst and captain Kevin Aughton both lost out to Ken Lea.

In the Premier Division Garstang A suffered a heavy 28-6 defeat to top team Trimpell Raptors, only Luke McGrath recorded a win for Garstang beating Carl Stebbing 3-1. Meanwhile, Garstang B still sit in the drop zone after losing 23-13 to St Luke’s A all three Garstang players Dave Holroyd, Jim Vasey and Mike Gregory inflicting defeat on Ken Lea. In the Preston League Division 1, Garstang B lost out 7-3 to Jacobaeus, Adam Soar won 2 for the Garstang side, Rebecca Hodgson added the third, sub Stuart Southward had an off night not managing to win any matches, however he made up for this in the Divisional Competition making it all the way to the final before losing out 3-2.
