Three Garstang running club members took on the Mad Dogs 10k in Southport with Chris Horner getting a new personal best time of 38:41.
Chris was joined by Amie McAvoy who ran 46.21 and Mary Hewitt finding some good form again running 54.44. At the nationals cross country in London Simon Gora beat 500 other runners in 1,440th position. Simon was back out running cross country at Lawson playing field in Blackpool and completed the 10K route in 45.28. He was joined by team mate Richard Jones who ran 42.43.
At the same event running 6K were two woman’s teams, first home was Marissa Cornall in 28.09 followed in by Amie McAvoy in 28.15 and Amy Fisher in 30.12. In the second team was Denise Hughes ran 34.49 followed by daughter Cindy Hughes in 34.58 and Debi Spencer in 41.35. At Lancaster the Valentines 10k road race saw Chris Horner 9th in 39.11 joined by Julia Patefield in 55.44. As the race was on both days three of the ladies who ran the cross country took also ran the 10K, first was Amie McAvoy in a new personal best of 45.47 followed by Denise Hughes in 55.47 and with Cindy Hughes getting a new personal best of 56.30. At the Grizedale Valentine Massacre Night 10K Amy Fisher pipped Ben Seed running 58.07.
At a half marathon in Barcelona Mary Hewitt ran 2.04.11 whilst Tim Warner took on the Naples marathon running 4.07.07 then two weeks later took on the Rome half marathon in 1.48.00. On the sea front of Blackpool Phil Cray was first home for the club in the Great North west half marathon in 1.39.52 finishing 215th out of 1,200 competitors, Phil was joined by Colin Walton who ran 1.44.13 finishing in 332nd position.
The following week Richard Jones and Julie Graham took on the scenic half marathon at Haweswater, Richard ran well to complete the 13.1 miles in 1.27 and Julie ran 2.06. At Stanley Park 10k James Cornall was the first home for the club in a new personal best of 45.08 just in front of Tony Pritchard in 45.14. Frank Miller ran 50.41 and Gordon Russell ran 53.27.
At the Grizzly 7 Miles Run Garstang club runners finished in 2nd and 3rd. First home for the club was Marissa Cornall in 1.02.32 followed by Chris Airey running 1.03.18. At the Grizzly Half Amie McAvoy was first lady home in 1.56.19.

40th position out of nearly 2000 runners.
