Garstang Swimming Club took a squad of 10 to compete in the North Lancashire Swimming Championships at the Palatine Pool, Blackpool.
This is an annual event held over two weekends in January and February and follows the Level 3 gala in October, this being the next level up. The male team was made up of Thomas Eccles, Albert Hadcock and Sam Dugdale.
Thomas Eccles competed in the 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and the 100m freestyle in open age group, gaining two personal best times.
Albert Hadcock in the 16 years age group swam seven events. He entered the 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, 100m freestyle and butterfly and 200m individual medley. Albert reached the final of the 50m freestyle and reserve finalist for the 100m butterfly. He also achieved three personal bests.
Sam Dugdale in the 13 years age group achieved personal bests in all four of his events, 50m freestyle and butterfly, 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley, and reserve finalist in the 50m freestyle.
The female team was made up of Katie Russell, Ellie Moss, Abbie Hewitt, Kiera Richmond, Rebecca Hawtin, Jessica Critchley and Natalie Charlesworth.
Katie Russell in the 15 years age group swam the 50m freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke achieving personal bests in all three.
Ellie Moss in the 13 years age group competed in the 50m butterfly and 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke. She gained two personal bests.
Abbie Hewitt in the 12 years age group swam a personal best in the 100m freestyle.
Kiera Richmond, Rebecca Hawtin and Jessica Critchley swam the 10 years age group.
Kiera gaining all personal bests in the 50m and 200m breaststroke and 100m individual medley.
Rebecca achieved personal bests in both the 50m freestyle and breaststroke.
Jessica entered the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley.
Natalie Charlesworth in the youngest nine years age group gained personal best times in both the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley.
Team manager Steve Eccles said: “As well as a total of 22 personal best times some of these swimmers have been rewarded with hard earned entry times to the Lancashire County Championships. These will be held in Liverpool and Manchester during March.”
