Westmorland Cricket League Division Two

Shireshead 2nd 196

Burneside 2nd 65

Shireshead won the toss and chose to bat but lost early wickets to a good opening spell from Joe Sorrensen (2 /35) but Colin Twiname (88) was in imperious form, striking 13 boundaries and a six. Allied with useful contributions from the middle order by Joel Dugdale (15), Faizan Khan (26), Izhar Ullah (38) and Andy Burch (11), a competitive score was set.

Burneside’s reply never really got going with Ullah (4/15) and Alex Taylor (5/39) both bowling with good pace and accuracy. Burneside were reduced to 41 for 9 off 20 overs when the rain came. However, after an hour watching the overs tick away, a break in the weather saw Ullah take the final wicket to secure the maximum 15 points for Shireshead.
