The Shireshead batsmen were soon in trouble and had slipped to 37 for 4.

Simon Gould (34) and Robert Skipworth (46) rebuilt the innings with a stand of 52 and wrested back control, J. Cooper (3 for 46) and M. Park (2 for 30) both impressing.

Two quick wickets left the innings in the balance, but Gareth Jennings (36 not out) supported by Mike Park and Dave Murphy ensured Shireshead posted 180 for 9. In reply Windermere began brightly but once opening bowlers Jennings and Dave Jack found their line and length they began to make inroads.

Jack (4 for 35) removed Fletcher and 21 for 0 soon became 51 for 6. S. Carruthers and M. Park briefly halted Shireshead’s momentum, but Dave Carter (3 for 13) tempted some injudicious stroke play to draw the curtain on the Windermere innings s
