Longridge’s third XI stormed their way to an eight wicket victory over fellow stragglers Gregson Lane last weekend.
The victory may ensure the third string will compete in Division Two for another season. Skipper Richmond won the toss and asked Gregson Lane to bat first.
The opening bowlers were buoyed by this show of confidence in them.
Only one partnership worried Longridge but Lewis did for the big hitting Thorp and the 10 men were eventually all out for just 84. Kaye finished with six wickets for 33 runs and Lewis bagged three for 34.
After tea Longridge set about their task with both Matt Simpson and veteran Ian Barton eking out the runs. As the boundaries began to flow Barton was guilty of a touch of over-confidence and was caught out at mid off for 40. With only a handful needed Gale and Simpson, who finished with unbeaten on 27 finished the job and ensured a 12 point win.
