The glory of the garden reaped a rich harvest for a local church.
An autumn fair on Sunday, organised by the Claughton Catholic Association, raised £900 towards the upkeep of the local St Thomas the Apostle church.
Jenny Fitzherbert-Brockholes, one of the organisers, reported: “We had a cake stall, chutneys, jams, lots of fresh vegetables from people’s gardens, a flower stall, a meat stall and white elephant stall.
“A lot of the produce was Claughton produce - everyone turns up with what they’ve grown, like a harvest festival,” she added.
There was also a raffle, tombola and teas at the event at Claughton Memorial Hall on Smithy Lane.
Jenny added: “It’s our opportunity to get the harvest in!It goes towards the maintenance of the church and the buildings.”
