A postbox which served the residents of Catterall for more than 100 years has disappeared.
The box, outside the former police station, has been taken away at the request of the owner, says Royal Mail.
Royal Mail spokesperson Val Bodden said: “The postbox was in a poor condition, and on investigation its position on a bend was considered a health and safety issue for staff and customers.
“As there are alternative postboxes close by, a decision was taken not to replace this box. The nearest postboxes are located nearby at Church Inn, Bonds Lane, Garstang and outside Garstang Academy.”
