The third ‘silent auction’ in aid of St James’ Church, Whitechapel, is this Saturday (March 15), at 7.30pm in the village hall, with viewing between 2pm and 4pm.
Items and promises number around 200 and include canal trips, trips to local fisheries, clay pigeon shooting, bed and breakfast accommodation, church pews, an old oak beam, pine doors and window frames, rose and soft fruit bushes, snowdrops, horse manure, logs, rowing machine, golf clubs, lamb, hampers, children’s items, hand knitted sweaters, cushions, crocheted blankets, 15 mounted water colours by the late Irene Cocks, and a Beryl Cook signed limited edition framed print.
Those attending will be given their own bidding number and each item will have a number and bidding sheet.
During the allotted bidding time, everyone is invited to circulate and place bids anonymously by using their bidding number, returning as often as they wish, to increase their bids if they have been out-bid, until the end of bidding time when the bell is rung. Admission is £5 (children free) including a glass of wine, cheese and nibbles.
