Garstang’s Choir One are crying out for new male voices.

The newly formed community choir have just celebrated their first perfomance and now choir master David Kennedy is hoping to fine tune his 27-strong group, with a few more males in the mix.

Experience is not necessary and there is no audition because the idea of the choir was to encourage the people who sing in the shower or in the car but wouldn’t ever think of joining a choir

The rock, pop and soul choir raised £284 after their short set at Garstang Methodist Church, with proceeds split between St John’s Hospice and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

David said: “The choir have gone from strength to strength and perform in front of an audience of 60 was just fantastic.

“It was a great performance and nice to see everyone enjoy it.”

On Tuesday August 4 and 18, at 7.30pm - 9pm David has organised a male voice workshop, at Wesley’s Coffee Shop, Park Hill Road

He added: “Experience is not necessary and there is no audition because the idea of the choir was to encourage the people who sing in the shower or in the car but wouldn’t ever think of joining a choir that this was their opportunity to join in and get with the community spirit.

“The group has been so popular but at the minute we have just two men and it would be nice to add a few more.”

A full workshop will all members will take place on August 25, 7.30pm - 9pm.
