Eccentric funk band Grand Old Juke have been announced as the headline act for Longridge’s Scarfest music festival.

Festival director Liz Hindley confirmed the Manchester band would complete the exciting line-up alongside Longridge-based One Minute, The Rain and a host of local artists for the event on September 21.

She said: “Grand Old Juke has gathered its musicians from all over the UK to create a six-piece band.

“Their sound fuses many influences including jazz, rock, electro and funk, creating a unique style of music which will be an electrifying way to round off the festival.

“The committee and I are thrilled to be bringing this eccentric act to the people of Longridge.”

The countdown is now on to the inaugural music festival being held at Longridge show field on Lower Lane .

Tickets have been fast-moving for the event, which as well as live music will feature entertainment for the whole family.

Attractions include circus skills and hula hooping and face painting, while local businesses will also lend their support.

Dance workshops led by Sutcliffe School of Dance from Berry Lane will take place in the kid’s tent and Big Fun Time of Grimsargh will also be running craft sessions.

Tickets are still on sale and can be bought through the online box office at www.scarfest.co.uk or at the Yorkshire Building Society on Berry Lane, during office hours.

All the money raised will go towards St Cecilia’s RC High School, Young Minds and the Little Pink Mermaid Appeal.
