Award-winning actor and director Wyllie Longmore directs an adaptation of Shakespeare’s work, by acclaimed playwright Conor McKee, at the Continental in Preston this Wednesday and Thursday (15 &16).
To celebrate the Bard’s 450th birthday Shakespeare’s Deadly Sins takes audiences on a journey through gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, pride, lust and envy.
Vocal harmonies and stage combat are woven through the action as moments from the less performed plays and sonnets encounter scenes from classic works Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth.
The production reunites playwright McKee with Longmore following their successful collaboration on Macbeth in 2012 and 2013.
Previous accomplishments include Thrasher in 2011 which sold out in the Royal Exchange in Manchester, with a well-received national tour in 2013 and Burnt, which also sold out at the Contact Theatre, followed by a successful regional tour.
This stripped back and fast-paced celebration of Shakespeare’s work, puts the emphasis on storytelling, music and physical theatre.
Tickets are £8 / £6 concessions and are available now (£4 per head for school parties).
