For the first time in Marmalade history, the 2016 World’s Original Marmalade Festival will be celebrated across three venues this Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20 – Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens, Penrith town centre and the Rheged Centre.
There will be a packed weekend of marmalade inspired events for all the family from children’s craft, cookery, film and storytelling activities to food and craft markets, Paddington Bear appearances, marmalade talks and question time, chef demonstrations and the chance to see more than 2,000 competition marmalades. There will also be a FREE ‘Orange Express’ shuttle bus operating throughout the weekend.
Penrith town centre will ‘GO ORANGE’ on Saturday, March 19, with an artisan market, family activities including storytelling, free crafts for children with Paddington Bear and Mackays marmalade tasting. There will be a programme of free talks, including Michael Bond’s daughter Karen Jankel on why Paddington loves marmalade.
At the heart of the Festival is Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens, where for both days over 2,000 homemade competition marmalades will be on display. There will be a special Marmalade Festival weekend entry of £5 per person, with Under-16s FREE.
