We can never have too much room for storage – but are you making the most of all the space in your own home?

One of the problems with ready-made furniture is that it often never quite fits the spaces and shapes we have in our homes.

Imagine if you could utilise every inch – a chest of drawers that’s the perfect fit for your alcove, a fitted wardrobe that actually fits – right up to the slope in your ceiling or make best use of that attic space – and modern cupboards, shelving and drawers that provide the perfect storage solutions to keep your belongings neat and tidy.

But where do you start? Trying to design, measure and visualise the perfect piece of furniture or wardrobe for your space isn’t always easy and there are so many choices to make on colours, styles and materials – not to mention the nightmare of accurate measurements!

This is where Creative Joinery in Chorley comes in and can take all the hassle from you.

This is a true family firm – involving three generations with woner John Swarbrick, his dad David and daughter Lexi.

The trio work seven days a week running the Chorley showroom – which showcases their range of designer-looking mirrored wardrobes, Swan Systems Sliding Wardrobes, and matching free-standing furniture. They also have their own workshop, where the wardrobes and chests of drawers are handmade to your specifications.

We asked Lexi to talk us through the process from an initial visit to the showroom to having your bespoke wardrobes fitted in your home or freestanding furniture delivered.

The first step is definitely to visit the showroom – it’s here that you can get a real feel for the quality of the products and fittings, test out the sliding or hinged doors, take a look at the different finishes, accessories and options for internal layouts.

It’s here that you’ll meet the family too – and they can get to know you, your tastes, budget and talk through what you’re looking for.

Lexi says “Some people come with a really good idea of what they want, but other people will say they can pick the colour or the finish but they have no idea what will work or how it might look – and that’s fine! We can help with all of that.”

Once you’ve had a good look round and got ideas for finishes, colours and styles then they will book an appointment for John to come to your home for a site visit. This could be a quick visit to measure up or take a little longer to talk through different choices. He’ll also come with samples so that you can see how different woods, finishes, glass and different colours will look in situ in your own home.

Once he has all the details the next stage is the design. You’ll be sent drawings and visualisations and all the specifications to take a look at – this is when your initial ideas start to come to life.

Free consultation

All of this design and consultation service is absolutely free – you won’t pay a penny until you’re happy with your design and chosen materials and accessories.

Once you’ve approved your final design it’s time to move on to manufacture. Creative Joinery have their own workshop. First they’ll order in the materials for your design and then start to build it. Most of the build will be done in the workshop – chests of drawers and free-standing furniture like bookcases are usually finished and then delivered to you complete, whereas larger, fitted wardrobes and units will be partially made in the workshop and fitted and finished in your home.

This all means less work and disruption in your house. Most fittings are completed the same day and of course the team, including their experienced fitter Ryan, will leave everything spotless when they’ve finished.

Finishes and fittings

There is a wide range of finishes and fittings – with accessories like door handles and hinges to be chosen too. Some of this will be determined by your taste and style – but Creative Joinery keep your budget in mind too and can offer choices in two ranges – a standard range and a premium range.

Their consultation and design process means their builds are truly bespoke – you get to select everything from the colours and materials to the finish, accessories and the budget – all with expert help from John, Lexi and David. The showroom is the place to really get a feel for all the different finishes and styles.

Creative Joinery will work at properties within a 40 minute drive of Chorley and are happy to answer any of your questions. And you can be assured of their service to you the customer, as they are part of the Which? Trusted Trader and SafeTrader schemes.
