Attempted murder investigation under way after assault in Preston

Police have issued an appeal for information after a serious assault in Preston.

Officer were called around 3.45am on Wednesday, July 27, to an address in Beech Terrace.

A man in his 40s found with a number of serious injuries to his head, chest and upper body and taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Two men, both aged 30 and from Preston, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are in custody.

Detectives are appealing for information and are keen to speak to anyone who can assist their inquiries.

Det Ch Insp Zoe Russo, of Lancashire Police, said: “This was a shocking and brutal attack where a man has been seriously assaulted inside his own home.

“He has been left with some horrendous injuries and will require significant medical treatment.

“We have made two arrests but would encourage anyone who can help with our investigation to get in touch.

“Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the Beech Terrace area around the time of the attack? You may be able to help us.

“At this stage we are treating the offence as a targeted attack, however, we want to reassure residents and patrols have been increased.”
