A man who committed an aggravated car theft and stole a charity bucket has been jailed by magistrates for six months.

Darren Martin Conroy, of no fixed abode, took a Vauxhall Corsa from an address on Swallow Wharf, Lancaster in November 2019, and drove to Preston, Preston Magistrates’ Court was told.

The 29-year-old defendant drove it without insurance and was banned at the time.

He was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for two years and two months.

Conroy also denied stealing a charity bucket from Energi but was found guilty by the bench.
