The Preston man committed a series of offences during and after the relationship, the court heard.

A Preston man has appeared in court charged with a number of offences against his ex-partner, including threatening to kill her if she started a new relationship.

Ali Rehman, of Great Shaw Street, Preston, is accused of coercive and controlling behaviour during and after the end of his relationship with Sara Bila. The 32-year-old is said to have made attempts to control what she wears and constant comments on her appearance and clothing.

He is also accused of threatening to kill her and anyone with whom she embarked on a new relationship. Rehman also answered charges at a April 27 hearing that he harassed Ms Bila made turned up uninvited and loitering at her address.

He is also said to have sent her numerous unwanted text messages. The offences are alleged to have occurred between November 2017 and November 2022.

He did not enter a plea when he appeared before Preston Magistrates Court where he was remanded on bail to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 13. As part of his bail conditions, he was ordered not to contact Ms Bila or enter the town of Leyland.
