Police have launched an investigation after a van stopped was equipped with items suspected to steal fuel from rural Ribble Valley locations.

The vehicle was pulled over on Saturday evening.

A spokesman for Ribble Valley Police said: "Following an increase in theft of fuel from rural locations, on Saturday night a van was stopped in Clitheroe by two of our Special Constables (later supported by PC Green) and three persons arrested for going equipped to steal after articles were discovered that can be used in the commission of crime.

"The van was also seized as believed used in crime. Special thanks to our specials who do what they do voluntarily."
