A parrot which was trapped "under a kitchen unit" was released by firefighters in Accrington

Firefighters from Hyndburn were called to reports of a parrot trapped "under woodwork in a kitchen" on Edgar Street at around 12.38pm today (May 1).

When fire crews arrived they found the bird had gotten stuck behind the plinth or kick board - the wooden panel that covers the area between the bottom of the base unit and the kitchen floor.

The parrot was released using small tools.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and rescue said: "Firefighters released the parrot using small tools in a rescue operation that took approximately 10 minutes."
