Tipping family's final Christmas lights switch in Cottam reveals whopping total raised for charities over 12 years

For 12 years thousands of people have travelled far and wide to see the annual Christmas switch on in Valentines Meadow, Cottam, from Mark and Nicola Tipping and their children.

However, following this year’s December extravaganza, the festive family announced that this year would be their last ‘due to personal circumstances’, before raising an incredible £32,315.64 – amounting to a whopping £175,584.29 overall.

The sum will be split across four charities – Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Headway Lancashire and Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Mark said: “We would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has not only supported us this year but over the last 12 years!

“This brings our grand and final and Tippings Charity Christmas Lights total to a huge £175,584.29.

“Once again our thanks goes out to everyone who has supported us and made our charity lights display a success.

“Talk about ending on a high!”

We take a look back at last year’s mammoth switch on which once again showed huge crowds from far and wide who had come to watch the spectacular show and get into the festive spirit.
