The night has hit the road to mark its 20th Anniversary and Preston’s Continental has been named as a stop on this trip around Britain.

Begun by DJ Paul Tunkin as a reaction to the then popular grunge/slacker scene, which he branded “anti-style”, music played included British pop and R’n’B from the 60s, US soul of every era, 70s New Wave, 90s new bands, all thrown in with film soundtrack cuts, ska, early electronic music... Artists as diverse as Desmond Dekker and the avant garde Chicks On Speed have played at Blow Up, and the night also showcased early UK gigs for the Kings of Leon and The Killers.

Support comes from bands Baltic Fleet and Alfa 9.

Blow Up is on Friday, February 28 7.30pm-1am (last orders 12.45am) .

Tickets £6 advance, £8 on door available online now from See Tickets /WeGotTickets/Skiddle. Call The Continental on 01772 499 425.
