On the Beach for latest Mad Ferret tribute gig

Local music stars will be giving their own interpretations of Beach Boys tunes in a night dedicated to reappraising the surf rock stars.

The Mad Ferret, in Fylde Road, Preston, tomorrow will be inviting eight local bands and solo artistes to rework tracks by the US icons as part of their 
latest 8-Track night.

The eight acts taking the stage include Yukon Bill, Cry Baby Aeroplanes, FirstName Frank, Jackpot Golden Boys, Baxter Rhodes, The Hostages, The Richard Bilsborough Experience and organiser, Richard Lomax.

Each will play quick fire 10-minute set including a Beach Boys cover or a song inspired by the California Girls stars plus two of their own homegrown tunes.

The evening is the latest in a series to be staged at the Fylde Road pub, with local stars celebrating the work of rock music icons.

So far, previous 8-Track nights have paid tribute to stars as varied as David Bowie, The Smiths and Tom Waits.

DJing on the night will be FirstnameFrank, playing a selection of Beach Boys and Beach Boys inspired and inspiring tracks.

Doors at the Fylde Road pub open at 8pm and entry will be free on the night.
