A Feud good men top the festival bill

Taking place on the playing field at The Centre @ Halton in Low Road on August 10, the event features up to 20 art, craft and food stalls alongside Greenlands Farm outdoor roadshow, a children’s activity tent, and an outdoor music stage.

Music will continue into the night inside the hall, with a headline performance from Lancaster electro-rock trio The Feud, fresh from a headline show at Kendal Calling Festival.

Warton’s Old School Brewery will be manning the beer tent, and there will be a hog roast, Mexican food from Lancaster’s Go Burrito, sandwiches, cakes, hot paninis, ice cream and a licensed bar.

There will also be a skate competition on the adjacent skatepark, which is considered to be one of the best in the north west.

Stalls booked so far include jewellery, pottery, paper craft and arts and speciality cup cakes, and a kids’ tent will keep the young ones entertained.

The event kicks off at 11am, and live music starts around 12pm, with performances from Dan Riley, The Denmans, Kristi Michele, Idol Minds, The Section, The Intensely Staring Cats and Molly Warburton and The Shady Days.

The ‘Big Gig’ inside the hall in the evening features Lancaster three-piece The Feud playing an exclusive headline electro set, with support coming from Jay Diggins, Greenheart and Stopwatch Wilson.

The Feud have been making waves on the international music scene of late. A recent trip to Los Angeles resulted in huge exposure for the band, who are currently working on their first album. Expect a high octane and energetic end to the evening.

Main support comes from the Jay Diggins band, with members based in Scorton, Lancaster and Galgate.

Frontman Jay Diggins has been classically trained in music, and the band’s style has a cool and collected rock edge to it. These guys are not to be missed.

Like some kind of magic act, Jay Diggins becomes Greenheart, with bassist James Fraser (formerly of 90s Indie band The Milltown Brothers) taking up the lead, and Jay on drums, Scotty Moorhouse on Didgeridoo and Johnny Scott on bass.

Popular local covers band Stopwatch Wilson kick off proceedings to get everyone in the party mood.

Adam Lucas, one of the festival’s organisers, and drummer in Stopwatch Wilson said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing all this entertainment together for a day and night of fun in the heart of Halton village.

“We’ve lined up some great artists and performers to make sure the whole family is kept entertained throughout the day.

“We’re really excited about the evening event as well.

“We’ve handpicked this line-up and it should be a great night of music.”

Entry during the day, between 11am and 6pm is free.

Entry to the The Big Gig, from 7.30pm inside the hall at The Centre @ Halton is £6 per ticket, or two tickets for £10.

Tickets are available from the coffee shop at The Centre (open 2pm-5pm weekdays and 10am-5pm weekends), and from the Greyhound Pub in Low Road, Halton, closed Mondays.
