This week, TV star Laura Whitmore has stepped down from hosting ITV2’s Love Island, and fans think honorary Prestonian Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu could be her replacement.

On Monday, presenter Laura Whitmore took to her Instagram to announce she would not be the host of Love Island when it returns this Winter.

In a post, Laura said: "Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island.

"There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."

But now that the Scottish star has stepped down from the role, speculation has begun around who will be her replacement and former contestant Ekin-Su is at the top of many’s lists.

Former UCLan student, Ekin-Su has not spoken out about Laura’s exit or the rumours surrounding herself.

Following the announcement, an ITV spokesperson said: “Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series of the show.

When will we find out who the new host is?

ITV has not announced when we should expect to find out who the new presenter is.

However, the next series of Love Island will start again in January.
