The legendary noiseniks formed in 1977 by Terry Tezz’ Roberts and Roy Rainy’ Wainwright, were among the first bands to play hardcore punk.

While the band has had substantial line-up changes over time, most of the classic early 1980s incarnation – former drummer Tezz with his brother Tony Bones’ Roberts on guitars and bassist Rainy – will play the Continental gig.

JJ Janiak has come in on vocals replacing Anthony “Rat” Martin from The Varukers and with Dave “Proper” Caution on drums now makes Discharge a five-piece outfit.

The band’s heavily distorted, grinding guitar-driven sound and raw, shouted vocals have influenced bands from Nirvana to Metallica.

Their 1982 debut album Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing got to number two on the UK Indie Charts and number 40 in the UK Album Chart.

In the early 1980s, numerous singles and EPs placed in the top 10 of the UK Indie Charts, including the 1981 EP Why? and the 1982 single State Violence State Control.
