Making castles in the sand
The festival, on the resort’s seafront tomorrow and Sunday, features bubble fun, sand art workshops, donkey rides, mud-dipping with the RSPB and other children’s activities,
And at the heart of the event is the huge sandcastle competition on Morecambe’s award winning beaches in which hundreds of families compete to produce the most imaginative creations.

Hide AdOther highlights this year include Queen’s Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson, launching his brand new book, Time and Tide, which looks back on his amazing 50 years on the sands, on Saturday afternoon at 2pm, by the Visitor Information marquee.
Cedric will chatting to fans, signing copies and giving a talk about his experiences on Saturday at 3.15pm. Seats must be booked through Morecambe Visitor Information Centre on 01524 582808.
Internationally renowned sand artists Sand in your Eye will return to create amazing sand sculptures and lead a huge castle building practice session on Saturday in the run up to the competition judging on Sunday.
There will be children’s entertainers, donkey rides, a vintage tearoom, music from Lancaster’s Batala Samba Band and more.
