Megan Rolf, 19, hails from Aberdeen and is just completing her first year at the Royal Northern College of Music. But despite her tender years the teenager has already given a number of concerto performances in Britain.

“I started playing the violin when I was young, but as soon as I picked up a cello, I had a completely different feeling,” said Megan, right.

“My family aren’t at all
musical. My dad is an engineer and my mum is a school teacher – but they have been very supportive”.

Megan’s parents and grandparents will be at the concert. The Haffner will be playing Beethoven’s much-loved third symphony, the ‘Eroica’ or ‘Heroic’, at the concert, which starts at 7.30pm at the Ashton Hall, in Dalton Square, Lancaster.

Other music on the programme will included Elgar’s Larghetto from Serenade for Strings and Elgar’s cello concerto.

The conductor will be Bob Chasey. At 6.30pm Megan Rolf will give a pre-concert talk, admission free.
