Elgar’s second symphony is regarded by some as the finest ever written by an Englishman and conductor Vasily Petrenko leads the RLPO, who will also perform rarely-heard gems by two of Elgar’s greatest European admirers – the little interlude Mahler dropped from his own First Symphony, and Richard Strauss’s bubbly mock-Mozart tongue-twister of a Second Horn Concerto.

It’s a showcase for Preston-based musician Jackson.
