Seeing stars at Sea centre

Visitors to Sea Life Manchester will have stars in their eyes at the moment – the centre is playing host to a dazzling array of starfish from across the world’s oceans.

Sea Stars will feature species from the familiar common starfish of British rock-pools to the giant multi-limbed Sunflower sea star from the icy waters off British Columbia, alongside the red knobbed starfish, granulated starfish and more.

Visitors to the Sea Stars exhibition, which opens on March 14 will be astounded by the private life of a seemingly humble and unglamorous creature, that most will have memories of from childhood holidays by the coast.

“Sea stars are amazingly complex animals which play a crucial role in maintaining the health of our seas,” said curator Lucy Handel.
