Not the desired ambience if you’re out to quietly examine your navel, no, but trust me – two jars on I trundled off enlivened.

Two good jars too.

A pint of Outstanding Beers (of Bury) Stout that slipped down easy as the G-word, and looked just as handsome in the glass.

Roasty with bitter notes, dry and with sweet liquorice aftertaste, a lovely stout.

Chasing this down the hatch a pint of Iron Maiden. Yes, THAT Iron Maiden, the noisy twits having followed Quo and produced a beer bearing their name brewed by Robinsons.
