After making it to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent and appearances on subsequent TV shows, the gory entertainment is riding the crest of a wave.

The current tour also saw it given a series of dates in The Lyric theatre in London, the first time a circus has appeared in a West End venue for 100 years.

The show started its gruesome beginnings at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival and became an instant hit, touring all over the world.

The latest incarnation, London after Midnight, is inspired by the film of the same name.

Set in a plague-ridden capital and climaxing with the Great Fire of 1666 the story features some of the most bizarre circus acts ever seen.
