The ER and Moll Flanders star plays Lady Macbeth opposite Kenneth Branagh in a production of the Shakespeare tragedy which will be beamed live from Manchester International Festival.

Then, in 1997, she landed a major role in the American hit TV series, ER, which made her a worldwide star. More recently, she starred as River Song in Doctor Who.

Macbeth is the first production from the Manchester International Festival to be screened at cinemas nationwide including The Dukes.

It also sees Branagh in his first Shakespeare performance in more than a decade as this tragic tale of ambition and treachery unfolds within the walls of an intimate deconsecrated Manchester church.
