Summer on the North Pier

Blackpool’s North Pier Theatre is offering a full line-up of entertaining shows this summer.

The 2013 summer season will begin on Thursday and run throughout the school holiday period until September 3. It features soul, swing and popular music as well as the return of North Pier’s annual summer panto-musical.

Thursdays sees the return of last year’s Ragdolls’ tribute to The Jersey Boys; so popular it was extended into the Illuminations.

It’s a tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and features many of the band’s worldwide hits.

The Rat Pack is Back every Monday evening – Britain’s longest-running tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr – and special guest is Kenny Lynch who scored a string of hits in the 60s and 70s.

Every Wednesday families are invited to follow the yellow brick road in search of The Wizard of Oz in the summer panto show.

Every Saturday from July 27 to August 31, enjoy comedy, song, dance, puppetry, magic and maybe a tank of gunge for good measure with not just one, but two variety shows – The Ultimate Kids Variety Show at 2pm and The Variety Show at 7.30pm – the later including Dave Benson Phillips, star of television’s Get Your Own Back. Maverick writer Philip Ridley’s Dark Vanilla Jungle premieres at The Studio at the Royal Exchange, Manchester, from next Thursday to Saturday before going to the Edinburgh Festival.

It’s a new drama about one girl’s craving for family and home... and the lengths she’ll go to get them.
