Trouble at the Fort as Del Rio rambles on

A rockabilly double header with a European flavour is on the cards in Lancashire tomorrow night.

German rocker Johnny Trouble will bring his band to the Fort San Antone in Lytham Road from 7pm.

This will be the legendary Johnny’s only UK appearance of the year.

The band formed in 2002 as The Johnny Trouble Trio and are now a quartet.

The line-up is Johnny on vocals and acoustic guitar, Felix Berchtold on electric guitar, Tall Tony on bass: and big Swiss Paul Burkhalter on snare.

Making up the bill are Fleetwood favourites Del Rio Ramblers.

The five-piece are steeped in the tradition of honky tonk, country, rockabilly and hillbilly and are regarded as being the best western swing and rockabilly band in the country.

The band feature two instruments not often heard live – a stand-up double bass and a steel guitar.

The band feature fiddler Paul Roberts, steel guitarist (and big Fleetwood Town fan) Chris Cummings, lead guitarist and mandolin player Steve Baker, acoustic rhythm guitar and charismatic lead vocalist Shaun Horton and stand up bassist Ray Walmsley.

Signed to Raucous Records, thev Del Rio Ramblers have
recently recorded a live concert for the BBC, supported Blondie at Campbestival and their acclaimed debut album Go Away Hound Dog even made its way onto the USA Country Music chart.

Radio 2 rockabilly connoisseur Mark Lamarr branded them “the best hillbilly band in the UK”, and will be touring Sweden in June.
