Cuadrilla backs Lancashire’s Be Inspired Business Awards

Cuadrilla Resources, a UK company formed in 2007 to bring together experts on recovering natural gas from shale, is sponsoring the New Business of the Year category at the Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs.

The category, one of 18 prizes which will be handed out at the annual awards, which take place in September, is open to firms from the county which have been trading for up to three years.

Cuadrilla chief executive Francis Egan said Lancashire was well-placed to become a European leader in this emerging energy industry, known as hydraulic fracturing.

This natural gas could reduce the country’s reliance on imported gas, and secure investment and jobs in the county for many years to come.

He said: “The BIBAs is recognised as the leading business awards in Lancashire, and Cuadrilla is delighted to be sponsoring the New Business of the Year category at this year’s ceremony.

“Our work is already supporting a wide range of businesses in our supply chain, and we would like to be able to support even more in the near future.

“Cuadrilla is working hard to unlock Lancashire’s energy and, with it, the potential to provide the UK with billions of pounds in tax revenue and tens of thousands of jobs, both skilled, unskilled and throughout the supply chain.”

Cuadrilla is currently speaking with local communities about its proposed new exploration sites in the Fylde.

The company intends to apply for planning permission to hydraulically fracture and test the flow of gas at two new sites near Roseacre, and one near Little Plumpton.
