Ashton Community Science College (formerly Ashton-on-Ribble High School) in Aldwych Drive has contacted parents this morning, asking all Year 10 pupils to stay at home and self-isolate.
The school has told parents that it is currently working to trace those children who might have come into close contact with the infected person, with those deemed at risk to stay at home until October 9.

It is the second confirmed case of coronavirus at the school since the Autumn term began, with Year 8 pupils sent home last week after a child tested positive.
Headteacher Sharon Asquith, in a message to parents, said: "Your child has been identified as being part of the bubble in which one student has a confirmed case of COVID-19.
"Until we receive further guidance we have taken the decision to request the whole bubble self-isolates until we can account for all students who have come into close contact with the student who has tested positive.

"If your child has not been affected, we will be back in contact and inform you that they are safe to return to school.
"We are asking your child to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID-19 to others in the community."
