Coronavirus in Lancashire: Two new cases of Covid-19 reported in Blackpool

Two new cases have been confirmed today (Sunday March 15), bringing the total on the Fylde coast to four.
Dr Arif Rajpura, director of public health at Blackpool Council, said: “We have been advised today there are two additional confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Blackpool. We are working closely with Public Health England and local NHS.

Hide Ad“We urge the public to continue to follow the advice that the Government and Public Health England have issued to try and delay the spread of the virus. This includes washing your hands regularly and thoroughly, for at least 20 seconds, covering your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when you cough and sneeze and cleaning regularly touched objects and surfaces.
“We are unable to comment further on the details of these particular cases due to the need to protect patient confidentiality.”
The total number of confirmed cases in Lancashire now stands at nine.
There are three in Chorley, two in South Ribble and one in Fylde.

Hide AdMeanwhile, three of the latest deaths were in the Greater Manchester area, it has been confirmed. All were elderly and had underlying health conditions.
