A group of 20 children were invited to the development on Clancutt Lane, which will have 28 homes once complete.

The year three to six pupils were given a tour of the site and were then taught about the construction of the homes and the types of bricks that were being used – following which they were invited to help lay some of those bricks themselves.

The activity marks a new partnership with Coppull Primary School, and Morris will invite the group back to the development to see the different stages of the build as it progresses.

Janet Solan, sales manager at Morris, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the children from Coppull Primary School to the site and teach them all about how the homes are being built at Highwood Grange, (artist’s impression, right).

“All of the children showed a keen interest in learning about the construction process, and they really enjoyed getting the opportunity to lay some of the bricks themselves.”

Michael Chambers, hseadteacher, said: “They had a wonderful time visiting Highwood Grange to look around the development and take part in the bricklaying activity. They were really keen to learn all about how the houses are built and especially enjoyed the practical bricklaying lesson.
