The event, called Porkers in the Trough, saw motorists from all over the country come together for a leisurely summer drive, sharing their passion for Porsches and raising money for a good cause at the same time.

The participants met at Garstang Golf Club and were waved on their way by the Mayor of Garstang Coun Chris Ryan.

They then traversed the Lancashire countryside, taking in Pendle Hill before making their way back through the Trough of Bowland, returning to Garstang for a prize-giving celebration.

All the drivers who took part made a donation to the local cancer charity based at Royal Preston Hospital.

The event, held on June 30, raised £690.99 for the charity. The fundraiser takes its name from Porkers, which is the nickname given by club members to people who share their enthusiasm for the classic car.

Some 75 cars took part in the event.

Laura Stephenson, area fundraising co-ordinator at Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “The support from The Porsche Club GB for Rosemere over the past few years has been amazing.”

Rosemere Cancer Foundation provides care for cancer patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
