Lancashire based artisan cheese producers Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses are no strangers to meeting celebrities.
They can count Nigel Howarth, Glynn Purnell and Simon Rimmer as fans, have a Sale Sharks player in the family and are the producers of one of the most exciting blue cheeses in Britain.
However, nothing could have prepared the team at the Inglewhite dairy for the visit of one man and his 1956 Bubble Car.
Fred Talbot, the weatherman best known for running around on a floating map in Liverpool’s Albert Dock, visited the dairy as part of his ‘Where’s Fred?’ feature, taking his iconic automobile (which can reach speeds of 65mph both forwards and in reverse) to the dairy to visit the award winning Blacksticks Blue and the people who produce it.
Gillian Hall MD of Butlers and third generation cheese maker stated: “We’re quite lucky here to have some high profile fans, particularly in the cookery world, but meeting Fred took us aback as he’s a different sort of celebrity and everyone has different memory of him, from his time on This Morning or Granada Reports.
“The staff thoroughly enjoyed meeting and posing for pictures with him and some such as Dairy Manager Tim just couldn’t resist trying out his Bubble Car.”
