Flooding fears in Over Wyre are to be probed by councillors after a seriously soggy autumn in parts of the district.

Preesall town council clerk Jan Finch is to arrange a meeting with Lancashire and Wyre Councils, the Enviropnment Agency and United Utilities to thrash out some of the problems which occur at times of prolonged heavy rainfall.

Parts of Cartgate and nearby Sunnyside Terrace regularly flood and water has seeped into several homes in the area.

Now Preesall town council is to address the problems.

The move follows the intervention of Coun Gordon McCann, a Preesall representative on both Wyre and Preesall councils.

He told the town council of a meeting looking at flooding problems in the Hambleton area and suggested a similar get together be held at Cartgate.

Coun Phil Orme, council representative on the Wyre Flood Forum, confirmed the Cartgate problems had been raised many times at the forum.

A member of the public who attended the meeting praised the work of Wyre and Lancashire County Council staff in the recent flood but said many of the problems could have been solved if the road had been close more quickly.

Preesall town councillors have backed plans by Lancashire County Council to introduce a disabled parking bay on Smithy Lane.
