Animal-lovers were free to enjoy a range of creature competitions - which included rabbits, budgies, and specially-bred show pigeons - while would-be food critics taste-tested wines, cheeses, chutneys, jams and spices.

Farmer Tom Riley, of WG & RG Riley, won the prize of ‘Breed Champion’ with his cow Halloverhill Boliver Rosette.

He said: “It was a fantastic show. I try to show here every year but this is the first year I have won.

“With a prize like this you can sell breeding stock on the back of it. It’s not just a hobby.
