Bird food thief swoops, swipes and scarpers at Yarrow Valley Country Park
Supporters of Yarrow Valley Country Park at Birkacre are in a right flap.
The thief has driven up to the Chorley beauty spot with a tub and scooped the feed from bird tables, it has been revealed.

Hide AdBut the eagle-eyed Yarrow Valley Country Park Appreciation Group is determined to clip the culprit’s wings.
One person posted on the group’s Facebook page:
“To the person in the red car who thinks that it is acceptable to bring an empty tub and steal the bird feed from the tables and drive off. IT IS NOT.
“It has been noted and recorded by both visitors and park rangers.
“The photographers and nature lovers very kindly provide sustenance for the birds at their own cost and expense to ensure they are well looked after.

Hide Ad“This is provided to ensure enjoyment and pleasure for all the visitors to Birkacre.
“Stealing bird food from bird tables in a nature reserve is pathetic.
“You should be ashamed.”
Yarrow Valley Country Park is run by Chorley Council. It includes a cafe and information centre built using Heritage Lottery funds.
The 700-acre park has been awarded Green Flag status since 2004 and is patrolled by a ranger service.
Chorley Council has been contacted for a comment.
