The new Bishop of Blackburn, the Rt Rev Julian Henderson may have turned to online social media to make his introductions, but it was back to basics on a meet and greet in Garstang.
Accompanied by wife Heather, he made a whistle-stop tour of the Wyre district on the latest of his series of Deanery Days.
He said: “The most important thing for me at the moment is meeting as many people as possible.
“I don’t want to be shut away behind a desk and unapproachable, I want to get out and about.
“At the moment I’m learning - there is lots to discover and I’ve not come into this post with a pre-packaged programme.”
Bishop Henderson spoke of the warm welcome he had received on the trip, which saw him meet all areas of the community - the local schools, farms and a tea at the Fig Tree Fair Trade Visitor Centre.
He has made several videos introducing himself via the diocese YouTube channel since taking over the role recently.
