AN innovative plan to get couples fit for their wedding day was launched in head-turning style in Garstang on Saturday.
Shoppers on the High Street looked on as two brides, looking picture perfect in their white wedding dresses, devoured a cup cake...and then were chased along the street by a personal fitness trainer vowing to get them in shape for their trip up the aisle.
The stunt was a set-up to launch a new ‘Bridal Boot Camp’ offer at Garstang wedding venue Wyrebank Banqueting Suites, which is offering a free six week gym membership, personal trainer and fitness classes at Fenton Fitness for any couple booking their wedding for any date next June, July or August, or any month if the date is midweek.
The run saw Rick Fenton of Fenton Fitness chase the brides from Iced in Garstang, where they’d be spotted sampling a cupcake, along High Street, much to the amusement of passing motorists and shoppers
One bemused shopper commented: “It was bizarre. One minute I was wandering around the town enjoying my Saturday off, the next I was confronted by what looked like an escapee bride!”
Rick Fenton said: “We meet a lot of brides-to-be looking to get fit for their big day and offer advice on the best approach to take. We do believe that fitness is about a change of mindset and many women find the looming date of their big day a good motivation to build up their fitness for their future, not just for the big day.”
According to Stuart, Manager at Wyrebank Banqueting Suite: “We wanted to offer brides something they really wanted as a reward for choosing our venue.’’
