Fall in jobless figures welcomed by MP Wallace

The MP for Wyre & Preston North, Ben Wallace, has welcomed news that official unemployment figures show the number of jobless people claiming benefit in his constituency has gone down.

He was speaking as it was announced that inflation had fallen to to 1.6 per cent, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI).

He said: “I am delighted that figures released reveal that here in Wyre & Preston North only 1.3 per cent of the working population are unemployed claimants.

“ The number of claimants is 156 lower than in March 2013 and 50 lower than in February 2014.

“This means Wyre & Preston North is in the top 40 constituencies for employment out of 650 in the UK.”

He also offered to visit 
local businesses to learn more about the challenges they face.

He said: “I believe that 
the Government’s long term plan is working and we must continue to reduce the deficit and create an economy that rewards work, backing both business and enterprise.”
