A fundraising duo have struck again and raised nearly £10,000 for local and national causes.

Sharon Hartley, 41, and Ann Boardman, 43, otherwise known as Team ShazzAnn, put together a “fundraising spectacular” to raise cash after the dynamic duo from Catterall were part of a mammoth cycling adventure last year.

They made their way from London to Paris, by cycling 234 miles and the ride raised more than £22,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the pair have picked up where they left off.

On Friday, June 3, Team ShazzAnn held the fundraiser at Claughton Memorial Hall, Claughton on Brock. The event was a sell out and 200 people from the local community packed the village hall.

And Sharon says their inspiration remains the same.

She said: “Last year we focussed purely on raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support following the sad loss of our friend to cancer. Jenny continues to be our inspiration for fundraising however this year we also decided to support Great Ormond Street Hospital and our local children’s event Catterall Gala.

“We also wanted to support a cause locally and Catterall Gala asked Team ShazzAnn if we might be able to help them.”

On the night a raffle and auction were held, hosted by DJ Rob Falcon, with the total coming to £9,050.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society will be given £300, £2,900 is being given each to Macmillan Cancer Support, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Catterall Gala and the remaining £50 is being given to Parkinson’s UK.

Sharon said: “Team ShazzAnn would like to thank everyone who supported this year’s event which was an incredible success. From our guests who bought tickets, to people who couldn’t come but still donated money to the causes and to all the local businesses who so kindly donated the most amazing and generous prizes. The night was a real community event and one which we aim to host each year. Jenny will always be at the centre of what we do, however we would love to support other local causes in the area. If anyone is interested in supporting or being involved in our event next year please call 07943 064868.”
