Chris gives Reds youthful outlook
GARSTANG FC unveiled their new youth manager Chris Nix at the club’s first youth trials this weekend.
Qualified coach Nix was impressed with the turnout at the Beeches training ground on Saturday, with more than 30 lads attending the first trials.
Riversiders boss Mike Stringfellow, youth assistant Alex Spence and, reserve team managers Paul Bailey and Alec Curwen also joined the session to cast an eye over the young hopefuls.
Nix, who has an honours degree in coaching and sport development and has worked in the performance analysis departments for the academies at both Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers, said he was impressed by the attitude and display shown by the lads on the day in spite of the miserable weather conditions.
Further trials for the youth squad have now been arranged this Saturday, June 23, at the Beeches at 11am.
Completing this season’s youth management team are reserve team player Paul Southward and another new man to Garstang FC, John Townsend.
Following last Saturday’s trial day, youth player Tom Graham was presented with his trophy for top goal scorer of the season by first team manager Mike Stringfellow. He netted 31 goals.
