The traditional service of nine carols and lessons at St Hilda’s drew a full house.
The service was conducted by Fellside Vicar Rev Garry Whittaker and Reader Diane Maguire supported by a large choir of the regular and invited choristers.
The Bilsborow church was floodlit outside with its illuminated cross high on the tower. Inside it was candles only.
Bebe Kay, aged nine, was the youngest of the readers and drew enthusiastic applause for her faultless contribution.
A final treat was a hot-pot supper with mulled wine. Donations were invited to go to the Preston Night Shelter. Thanks to an anonymous donor for generously providing the food and wine.
